Free Smoke Alarms in S.I. Homes The Staten Island Borough President, Vito Fosella is partnering with the American Red Cross to ensure all Staten Islanders have working fire alarms in their homes. “Keeping our residents safe is our top priority,” says Vito in the above PSA. “Seven people die every day in a home fire. That’s why we are helping the American Red Cross sound the alarm about home fires.” The Red Cross is installing free smoke alarms and developing escape plans in high-risk neighborhoods.
